There is no compromise on safety.
SMILE Laser Eye Surgery Promise
Samsung Miracle Eye Clinic strictly adheres to the seven absolute promises of ZEISS SMILE.
Absolute Promise 01
Commitment to using ZEISS Original VisuMax
Samsung Miracle Eye Clinic uses only proven, authentic equipment.
Here at Samsung Miracle, we use only VisuMax for your SMILE laser eye surgery, a verified device approved by the US FDA, Europe CE, and Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA).

Genuine SMILE laser eye surgery is only possible with VisuMax.
Samsung Miracle Eye Clinic performs SMILE laser eye surgery using VisuMax, a genuine device created and certified by ZEISS, the world’s leading provider of vision correction devices.
Absolute Promise 02
Commitment to a minimum optical zone diameter of 6.0 mm or larger
Minimizing light scattering by maintaining a 6.0 mm optical zone diameter
To maximize the remaining minimum residual corneal thickness, surgery often involves reducing the optical zone diameter. However, reducing the optical zone diameter to around 5 mm increases the risk of night glare, myopia regression, undercorrection, and overcorrection. Therefore, a minimum diameter of 6.0 mm is essential.

Your eyes, and by extension, your life, come first.
At Miracle, even if surgery cannot be performed, we always prioritize the patient’s eyes and their life after the procedure. For this reason, we take a slightly more conservative but thoroughly precise approach, strictly maintaining this standard in every surgery.
SMILE Promise 03
Ensuring a residual corneal thickness of at least 300 µm after surgery
The residual corneal thickness must be preserved sufficiently to maintain corneal stability.
Before surgery, the average corneal thickness is about 500–550 µm, but in cases of high myopia over 6 diopters, the ablation depth can exceed 100 µm. As a result, reducing the optical zone diameter or the distance between the corneal surface and the ablation start point increases the risk of postoperative complications.

We reduce the possibility of side effects by leaving a residual cornea of at least 300㎛ excluding the cap thickness (100㎛).
Samsung Miracle Eye Clinic does not perform surgeries that are too aggressive. We carefully consider the potential side effects of surgery and, if sufficient residual corneal thickness is not achieved, we recommend alternative methods, such as intraocular lens implantation.
SMILE Promise 04
Commitment to laser alignment along the visual axis

The visual axis differs for each person.
The center of light entering the eye is not always the same as the center of the pupil. The visual axis may be centered in the pupil for some people, but it often isn’t, so accurately identifying the visual axis is crucial.
We precisely target the center of the visual axis during surgery.
At Samsung Miracle, we check the distance between the center of the pupil and the visual axis during a preoperative examination to ensure that the laser is accurately focused on the center of the visual axis during surgery, thereby improving the quality of vision.

SMILE Promise 05
Commitment to using personalized energy levels for smooth lenticule separation

Using energy levels that are not tailored to the individual can lead to various complications.
If the energy is high, corneal edema may occur, and if it is low, it may cause difficulty in detachment. In addition, side effects such as long surgery time, lenticule damage, increased eye fatigue, and a long recovery period may follow.
We perform surgery by adjusting the laser energy to suit the patient.
The stiffness of the cornea varies from person to person, and some people experience lenticule detachment with the same amount of energy, while others do not. Furthermore, laser energy is crucial, as the equipment does not always emit a perfectly uniform level of energy.
SMILE Promise 06
Commitment to customizing the incision range to each individual

A smaller incision is not always the most appropriate approach.
When removing a lenticule with a diameter of 6.5 mm during smile surgery, if a small incision is made, the incision may tear during the removal process.
At Miracle, the standard incision size is 2 mm, but it is adjusted according to each patient’s eye condition.
For patients with smaller eyes or protruding upper eyelids, modifying the incision size ensures greater safety.
After thorough preoperative diagnostics, Miracle tailors the incision to the patient’s eye condition, often performing the surgery through a smaller opening rather than using the full pre-set incision size.

SMILE Promise 07
Corneal strengthening treatment for the prevention of keratoconus and myopic regression

After refractive surgery, various side effects are likely to occur.
After refractive surgery, there is a high possibility of side effects such as thinning of the cornea, development of keratoconus, and myopic regression.
We combine corneal strengthening surgery with SMILE surgery.
Corneal strengthening surgery is a procedure that increases the rigidity of the cornea to prevent the progression of disease. After surgery, riboflavin (vitamin B2) is applied to the weakened corneal stroma and UVA is irradiated to form a cornea with a strong bonding structure.
